Radiation curing is a technique in which chemical formulations (paints, inks and adhesives) are rapidly cured of liquids by means of energy irradiation (UV or electron beam), mainly including ultraviolet (UV) curing (referred to as "UV light curing") and electron beam (EB curing) curing (referred to as "EB curing") two categories, among which UV light curing technology accounts for more than 90% of the global radiation curing market.
Compared with traditional solvent-based thermal curing technology, UV light curing technology has many advantages such as fast curing speed, instant film forming, no volatile solvent, small environmental pollution, high safety, low energy consumption, small footprint, compact design, suitable for assembly line operation, low production cost, excellent coating performance and so on. Radiation curing technology is a kind of high efficiency, environmental protection, energy saving, high quality material surface treatment technology, known as the 21st century green industry new technology. UV light curing technology is a new energy saving and environmental protection technology, in line with the characteristics of "5E", namely, Efficient, Enabling, Economical, Energy Saving, Environmental Friendly.
According to the different uses of UV light curing formula products, UV light curing formula products are generally divided into UV light curing coatings, UV light curing inks, UV light curing adhesives and so on. UV light curing formula products through the selection of UV monomer, UV resin, photoinitiator, auxilaries four categories of components, composition ratio and mix, in order to make it meet the requirements of various substrates, various coatings/printing processes, environmental conditions and different coating performance.
Generally, the amount of photoinitiator used in the photocuring product is 1-5%, but due to the high price of photoinitiator, its cost accounts for 10-15% of the total cost of the photocuring product.
