Compared to traditional printing process, UV flatbed printer has a lot of advantage, because of its direct-to-substrate, no plate making inkjet printing technology. It brings us great convenience to our print production.
We know that UV flatbed printer can print onto almost all flat materials. For some special materials, coating is needed before UV ink printing, so as to enhance ink adhesion on their surface. The question is, what materials need to be UV coated? And do you need UV coating on your glass, wood, metal, or some other materials?
Materials need to be UV coated
Glass / Ceramic Tile / Metal
Treatment method: Clean the surface of glass sheet, ceramic tile or metal board with a dust-free cloth before printing. Then use a spray gun or sprayer to evenly spray the special coating liquid to the glass, ceramic or metal surface. Or you can wipe the coating by hand. Put them into the oven after spraying, bake at 100℃-150℃ for 15-30 minutes. (Some coatings can be used for glass and ceramic)
EVA / PE
Treatment method: Clean the EVA or PE surface with dust-free cloth before printing, then use a spray gun or sprayer to evenly spray the special coating liquid on the surface of EVA or PE. And then put the material into the oven after spraying, and bake at 80℃-120℃ for 15-30 minutes.
Melamine board
The treatment method is similar to treatment of UV coating on glass sheet.
Silicone
Treatment method: Clean the silicone surface with a dust-free cloth before printing. And then soften silicone material (it can not be melted, a little soft is OK) with a 150℃ flame spray gun. Then use spray gun or sprayer to spray the special silicone coating liquid to the silicone surface. After spraying, put silicone into the oven and bake at 80℃-120℃ for 15-30 minutes.
